Or you can use any task scheduler, for eg. Free Download Manager, to schedule a shutdown at a particular time. I've been using FDM since last 3 years. No problems at all.

shutdown -f -t 5 -s

Run the above task to see what happens. Create a batch file and schedule it using windows scheduler to run at particular time. You can increase the integer 5 to a larger value. It signifies the delay time in seconds. enjoy!

why dont u just put the shutdown.exe in scheduled tasks??? i do it this way only. simple and effective.
I really wonder why people want a separate software for every small task they wanna do in their system. windows or any other OS like linux , inbuilt has many features just use them.

I have to use FDM because I have schedule many other tasks, such as dialling a connection, running programs, shutting down, disconnection, router reboot etc. And as I don't know much about batch scripting, I can't efficiently write batch scripts for all of my tasks. I however use a batch script for dialling my connection, which I then schedule by using FDM.
