Inability to view CHM files and see license agreement screen of Adobe acrobat professional 8

I used Autopatcher XP to install some security updates (installed a bunch of them) and after that i am unable TO VIEW COMPILED HTML HELP FILES. At around same time, I faced another problem when i tried to install Adobe acrobat professional 8. Installation went smooth but i cant see anything in the initial license agreement screen (i.e. it's completely white)

i use Windows XP SP2.

Did you try system restore??
If not, try restoring your system to an earlier date prior to tha AutoPatch update or installation of Acrobat 8.

Try that. If doesn't work, post the feedback.

I dont have a restore point for that. Restoring to a previous date doesn't solve the problem

Boot into safe mode, dude and you will get restore points. While booting, press F8 and you will get various boot modes
bits n bytes is offline
