I have windows xp on the c: (primary partition) and linux /boot also in the separate primary partition. Now, I can't boot windows. but, in grub, there are both the options for redhat as well as windows howevwe. If I either repair or install xp now, grub will stop working. Please help me what to do next?

You can repair XP and Grub will be gone but you can restore Grub after repairing XP by booting from your Linux cd (or any Linux live cd) and issue this command :
grub-install /dev/hda [X] X being your /boot partition say if its hd3 then put 3 ..
