Try to boot using 98 Setup CD or any bootable floppy and then at command prompt, give following commands:

D:
CD WinXP\I386
winnt.exe

Here replace WinXP with the actual folder name, where u hv copied the CD. It'll start the XP setup.

Your suggestion may work, only if his FS is FAT/FAT32. I have w98 dsk. in its dos mode, it does not detect NTFS drives. Only when i input fdisk commmand, it shows that there is NTFS. You can't change to D:/ if it is NTFS.

My friend Vishal Gupta, u have give ismart the wrong file. It is not winnt.exe rather it is winnt32.exe. If u didn't believe me then u can see in Digit's Feb 2006 Fast Track i.e. Windows XP. Open it's 40th page. In 3rd point u will know which file to run.

@abhijangda
Its not "Winnt32.exe", its "winnt.exe".
Winnt32.exe will not run in DOS mode!
But I'm not sure, so let him try both of them.
