Installing XP NTLDR error

hi guys:d

today i installed my New Motherboard & RAM.

im using old HDD, which had OEM XP (home, SP2) installed, so as i installed the HDD in new m/b, i used a friend's XP install Disk.

during booting with XP CD, i selected to delete & format C: Drive.
the installer did that & copied all the necessary files to HDD & asked to Re-Boot.

when i Rebooted, NTLDR is Missing Error was shown.

wat is it, i tried installing XP 2 times, sfter that i installed Vista Beta 2 (got it thru MS).

so help me in Installing XP & please tell me AntiVirus, Firewall....to use in Vista. i'm not having any protection please hurry guys.

Antivirus : avast!
Anti-spyware : Windows Defender (already there)
Firewall : Vista default. I'm currently using "Vista Firewall Control". Its quite good and too small.

Otherwise u can install Kaspersky Internet Security Beta.

thanks mr.Vista, i have a Recovery Drive (D, it has OEM XP install files (HP Pavilion), so i dont want to disturb that drive,.

so can i just use fixboot command & proceed.

i'm a Noob, & this is the first time i'm Insatlling thru XP CD (i'm used to OEM recovery disk)

First try to give fixboot and bootcfg /rebuild commands in Recovery console.
If it doesnt work then try to copy ntldr file (will be present in I386 folder of setup) in C: drive from Vista.

Try these at recovery console. Its pretty easy

copy drive:\i386\ntldr c:\

copy drive:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\

where's i386 folder

man this Vista is soo confusing

i've "Windows.old" (XP) folder.

but cant find it.(ntldr)

btw wat do i do by copying ntldr

Buddy this file will be present in "I386" folder in XP Setup CD.

Its a virus infection and u do need to go thru my "Folder Options" tut.

SOLUTION: Folder Options not available in Tools Menu!

NIGHTMARE its virus check u want able to open command promt from run

Type cmd in run

type regedit

this will restart ur PC

check and make sure with antivirus that u have no more virus

hey guys, i tried to install XP again (after deleting Vista partition), the NTLDR error occured again, i tried your method, but could not get it to work

i told you i'm a noob

i have a HP Recovery Partition (D: Drive 4.5GB occupied, 6.4GB total size), this partition has XP & old mobo drivers, applications.
So is this NTLDR error appearing b'coz of this Drive

when i put SCAN or add ( i forgot) command, it shows three WINDOWS Install files, -
=>C: MiniNT,
=>C: Windows
=>D: Windows (this is the one frm CD install).

wat do i have to put Enter Load Idnetifier & OS Load Options???

tell me wat shall i do. i need that HP_Recovery partition, coz once i get new HDD, i'll hav to put this HDD to my HP PC. (i also have an Image of old XP -C: Drive)

Vishal,I think that works only when 95,98 or me is preinstalled.
If I am right our dude had none of them in his HDD.

i think its b'coz of the IDE sh1t, i did not connect any IDE cable, just a SATA cable & hdd power connector.

or

maybe of corrupt ntldr/ntdetect.com.
i'll try Mr.Vista's method, at first i was completely Clueless about from where to copy.

& yeah you're right, i've only XP, i mean i had

just now updated the gfx. drivers, maan Vista from looks wise is Fantaaasticoo

all that Aero stuff...

but its really freakin hard to get used to Vista. i mean its defragmenter doesnt even show any drive/gfx... & to delete one file i've to give sooo many permissions to soooo many dialog boxes (maybe all this is corrected in final release)

i tried to game, but its really slow, even wih 1GB RAM (set to 533MHz), the GTA SA ran soo smooth on my 256MB RAM DDR 400 & GMA900

i'm gonna show Off to everyone tomorow, so no XP till then.

& nobody know much about beta sh1t, so they'll think its full version one

& my Bling - Bling Cabinet will attract more

but interface is really nice, if GMA X3000 can do this, your 6600gt can do way better

so guys give the "command" that i've to type to copy this

& will it work, i mean i'll be copying this frm the HDD itself.

i also have a floppy drive, can it be used for this purpose?

i'll hav to delete/format this C: drive (vista), & install XP on it, so 2day afternoon.

i've 4 primary partitions, so i cant create more to install XP with Vista

well as i pointed out, that cause for the NTLDR error could be the Recovery Partition, i was Correct, i deleted that partition & everything installed smoothly.

currently i've installed XP Pro. (not SP2).

none of the drivers are installing, except Display Driver & Intel LAN Pro, which i had to install MANUALLY

all other driver (thru CD) are returning that this system is not Supported (i bought Intel DG965WH m/b).

is it b'coz this XP Pro is NOT SP2.

i tried AutoPatcher, but even after installation/updating (thru Autopatcher) i got an error during installation

even KIS gave that error, that is get SP1 or higher.

Wat should i do now. i dont have AUDIO now
