Weird prob

hi,

i have Win XP Sp2, 915GAV , 1 GB DDR RAm and 2.8 Ghz processor.

I am facing a weird prob , When ever i start my pc My documents open intead of explorer .And if i try to open explorer from task manager it opens my documents.. So is it a Virus or wat?? plz help..

do one thing try using the following solution

i am not sure whats is wrong but just do this precaution

start>run>command
>sfc \scannow

sfc is a system file checker \scannow means scan now !

meanwhile put the windows cd in the cd rom drive, let windows verify all the files and see if they are orginal and if they are damaged in any ways

rest if on god bwt u didnt state about any tweaks or about antivirus installed in ur system !

it is asking for sevice pack 2 CD... nw where do i get that??

just put the xp cd u installed the os frm. it should contain the sp2 (else u'll have to find a friend with xp-sp2 cd or just sp2)


btw ur issue seems to be registry related.scan it with some registry scanner.

do check in the task manager about the running applications (anything interesting running ??)

hi,

I have tried vimal malhotra 's solution but it didnt work.. thanx buddy.

I tried smthng. I copied explorer.exe frm another pc it didnt help.. i reinstalled Sp2 nt working .. i thnk its smthng that diverts explorer.exe command to My documents.

plz help..

Open regedit and goto:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

In right-side pane, make sure value of Shell String value is set to explorer.exe
