Default registry disabled


my frenz lappy got some sound problems ... so v dwnldd the new drivers ... adn wen i installed it gave me an error saying tht the registry not enabled for admin on this machine or something like this .... how do i enable the registry ....

PS: only user and logged in

kya yaar mav search the forum...

Type gpedit.msc in RUN dialog box
User Configuration>Administrative Templates>System
set "Prevent access to Registry editing tools" to either Not Configured or Disabled.

do this-open command prompt and paste this

reg delete HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\System /v DisableRegistryTools

press y.

it SHOULD do it

^^I agree with you.Search is useless most of the time.You can only remember the posts if you are in constant touch of forum.

il tell y it didnt wrk ... coz it was alreadyset to 'not configured' ... so it actually made no difference .. im scanning his m/c ... lets c .. ... il keep u guys updated

if it ws already not configured then set it to DISABLED....
cos the change wasnt made thru gpedit but by a virus or thru the registry....
so set it to DISABLED...
