U can use various 3rd party softwares, like Tuneup Utilities, Icon Studio, etc. to change icons in XP.
Another way is to hack system files, like Shell32.dll in Resource Hacker and change the icons.

Registry method for changing the icons of drives:-

a>Click start and start run.
b>Type in regedit (inbuilt regisrteditor) and click ok.
c>Goto d>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Cu rrentVersion\Explorer
e>Create a new key here called "DriveIcons" .
f>Set its default value to the icon address.
For particular drives:-

g>Create a new key in the key created in the step "e" and name it to the drive whose icons u want to change.
h>In its default value type the address of the icon.
Now see the effect and enjoy.
