Post Light,but great antivirus needed

I want an antivirus(free or paid) which does a great virus catching job.I am on dialup so suggest some antivirus whose definition files are small to download(not like norton).I don't want avast home or avg free edition. It should also be light on system resources.

free-> Try Kaspersky's cousin bro, Active Virus Shield.

Paid->Definetly- Kaspersky Anti-Virus or Kaspersky Internet Security
__________
i'm using KIS for nearly 6 months, & i did a Full system Scan (1st time with KIS, last week) before taking a Backup (using Acronis TrueImage), KIS found NOTHING.

its really the best AV, kicks the Trojan, Virus out before even they can enter the PC fully.

No question that Kaspersky Internet Security Suite is the best overall protection

If u want free, just use KAV beta from their FTP, free and legal. I find it good enough.

Now i m dial-up to. I previously used AVG, which is good n light but the updates take a long time downloading (more than 40 mins) and if something goes wrong in the middle, it starts all over again. But than i switched to avast which is light n free n good(AVG was free too) and the updates take no time in downloading.................So simply go for avast!!!

i m not puting NAV07 ahead of KAV, i said go for it if u want no nonsence antivirus. in other words, something which u just install & forget. If u leave NAV07 at default settings it will hardly bug u ever, & will hardly slow your computer if u have more then 512 MB RAM

Isn't KAV the same antivirus that would touch each and every file on your NTFS partitions and write things on them using ADS?

They are discontinuing support for the older 7.1 version. They have new 7.5 version which is free and is supported.
