Try crystal xp.
It is one of the best freeware themes available for windows XP. Find it out here.
Look out for the bricopacks they provide.
If u want to go for paid versions, then Windowblinds is best.
If u want to go for the look and feel of Vista go for the Vista transformation pack.

Here is the correct link: Crystal XP
It would be better to go for Crystal Xp than opting for Vista transformation pack, as it causes much problems.

1.) You can use various 3rd party visual styles to change the look of XP. Once I made one VS "VistaVG", which u can find here:

VistaVG1.0
VistaVG2.0

2.) U can also download various Iconpacks to change the XP default icons, just search at DeviantArt for them.

3.) U can use Tuneup Utilities to create ur own bootscreen.

4.) U can also download various Login screens from DeviantArt.

After following all these steps, u'll get completely different XP

I also do the same thing. There're many Visual Themes that you can install for your XP. It completely changes the appearance of XP. I never mess around with the icons, bootup screen and things.
