Default System32 folder opens when computer starts


Hi, Guys
I have original windows xp pro OS (installed a few days before)
When ever I start my computer, System32 folder opens automatically .how o fix this problem?. Pls help

Try this, open regedit and goto:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run


and make sure that there is no entry with strange characters or with " "
If its there, then simply delete the entry

Iam having the following entries in regedit. Now, tell me which entry needs to be corrected





HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

(default) reg_sz (value not set)


Alcmtr reg_sz ALCMTR.EXE

hotkeysCmds reg_sz c:windows\system32\hkcmd.exe

igfxtray reg_sz c:windows\system32\igfxtray.exe

OnecareUI reg_sz "c;\programfile\microsoft windows onecare live\winssnotify.exe"

QuickTime Task reg_sz "c:\programfiles\quicltime\qttask.exe"-atboot

RTHDCPL reg_sz RTHDCPL.exe

Windows defender reg_sz "c:\programfiles\windowsdefender\MSASCui.exe"-hide




HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run

(default) reg_sz (value not set)
tclockEx reg_sz crogramfiles\tclockexe\tclockex.exe
yahoo pager REG_SZ -quiet

It'll be better if u export those 2 keys data from Registry and then paste the code here

Actually there r some typing mistakes in the above code!

Hi, vista thank you , I have posted my registry entries as requested by you. But just an hour back I have fixed the problem by deleting the entry yahoo pager REG_SZ -quiet
