Default Confusing notification about unread mails [in winxp]

hi,

I am using winxp, on the log in screen where the username appears, under the Admin user name [This is the one I use frequently] it shows as 72 unread mails, some time the No varies, about which unread mails here it’s mentioning?

Os : Winxp
Browser : IE
E-mail : MS Outlook

It shows ur hotmail unread mails (i think) .. it happens if u add ur .net passport in ur user acc ... simply mark all mails as read and it will disappear.

no , it shows your unread mails that you have in your Outlook ( or Thunderbird as it supports this too ) inbox .

these r the unread mails in ur default email client (outlook?!)

to disable this notification :
start > run > regedit

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\UnreadMail

Double-click on the dword MessageExpiryDays in the right column.
If the dword is not there, create it. Set the value to 0

Changing in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE will affect all users on the system and if u apply the same change in HKEY_CURRENT_USER, then it'll affect only the current user

If u don't find that key, then just create that key and do what anandk suggested
