MS-Office 2003

When I tried to load Digit Software Archieve for the first time it denies loading saying that I should first install .Net1.1,though I have 2.0 installed preveously.After 2 more attempts I finally installed 1.1 then only I could able to load the DSA,and it run smoothly.Only to my despair that my MS-Word did not open by clicking on the desktop or a file icon, only saying that running a virus scan,and the programme didn't close even .when I tried to end it from Task manager it showed Running .DLL host,I had to shut down the comp. illegally.Now I have to open by going to Start-all programme etc..I tried to repair Office but it did not work.I tried to restore my system but to no fruit.Then I unistalled the two new programmes but still the problem exists.But this doesnot happen with other applications of Office.What is the problem? How to rectify it?

check if your Windows Installer (msiexec.exe) running.
clikc START > Run > Services.msc and look for Windows Installer.

Try to update to Windows Installer 3.0 and try to repair MS Office.

I have most updated Windows installer i.e. 3.1 Version.My Installer is running .I tried once again .But the problem is still there.

even i too faced a similar problem with powerpoint recently.. whenever i open a ppt file by double cliking, in some particular folder, it just hangs up..

but if i open powerpoint by run->powerpnt.exe then its fine..
finally the problem ended by opening some ppt files by file->open and after next restart, it worked fine.. I m not saying tht this is solution, but it has set right itself automatically...

lemme see if i get some solution..

That didn't worked for me.I tried that for 3 times.But the problem remained after restart of the comp.

i am heaving problem witm my ms word 2003, its very slow ,it takes 2-3 min to open and close. i have repaired and reinstall the office even though it happening, need solution for this.(even renamed normal.dot to normal.old). plz suggest wat to do?

why don't you try office 2010 beta free.
