What is a RAW File format

I recently got a movie CD (Rang De Basanti)
Its file system on CD is shown as RAW
Wheraeas others show it as CDSM
The RAW file format CD doesnt work on my PC
but ...
it runs on an DVD/CD Player or Home Theatre system
What's this problem and how can I solve it
DO I NEED TO CONVERT IT ?

He means RAW data which cd has format.
