go to
start -> run -> msconfig
see which items can u remove from startup
and also check
start -> run -> services.msc
look for services which are in 'manual' mode which are 'started' .. may be one of them may be causing a delay

i remember reading it in
30 min. expert of digit special booklet which came free with aug03 issue .

there they say how to make XP start up fast.

win xp can be used as a server too, so if u want to can disable all these stuff.

Have u noticed when u shut down it says " closing ur n/w connection " .

8) ...do these.....

as suggested above "msconfig"...remove everything there except enteries related to antivirus.

msconfig again...remove unwanted processes..

delete temporary internet files/clear history.

disable XP themes...

defragment the HDD

If u have created some users,delete them except admin

clear some fonts from fonts folder....

try out "bootvis" a utility by XP itself.....check it out on

ALL THE BEST!
