cannot Hibernate
Hi all,
I have enabled Hibernate option from the power management feature of windows control panel. But the hibernate button is not displayed in the turnoff computer dialog box. what's wrong. using the following config;
Intel original motherboard with 915 express chipset, mobo is 915GLVG
pentium 4, 3.06 GHz with Hyper threading
512MB DDR RAM
windows XP professional sp2
Help me ..........

even i dont get that..but as i have multimedia keyboard...i have sett the settingss that when i press the sleep key it hibernates, so pls help me too!

Press <Ctrl> key in shutdown box and Stand By option will be changed to Hibernate!

in the power options , advanced tab , use this setting
when i press power button in my computer :
select hibernate there.
so now when u want to hibernate, just press the power button ,quick and easy.

Its not control key but press the shift key and the standby button changes to hibernate and clicking on it will hibernate ur computer OR
Press SHIFT+ENTER and within no time ur computer will hibernate

but to use that feature you will need to have power button on your keyboard I suppose... And i don't think that the logitech's basic multimedia keyboard has a power button on it.

there can be lot many problems for this like if u have installed a driver for ur mouse(logitech) u can face this problem u can also face this problem due toan old video card or any other pci card

If the Stand By option is also not available in the Shutdown box, then install/upgrade VGA drivers. If VGA drivers r not installed in system, then standby and hibernate options r not available!

Nope, hibernating == complete shutdown in terms of power input i.e equal to zero .

in win xp pro, you cannot hibernate if you are using the welcome screen and fast user switching. disable both and your shutdown dialog box changes to win me style and you'll get the hibernate option.

If U have Enabled hibernation in your system you can access it by pressing Shift key in Log off screen

What he means is the power button on the cbinet and not on the keyboard...

Hey Mr:Becks you use the "sleep" button to stand bye your system not hibernatig it in most cases...but you can configure it to do so.
