This problem is now quite common and happens to many users. Seems to be some bug with updating 9.0c over 9.0b.
This query has been solved using softwares which remove DirectX safely, and then allowing you to reinstall DirectX 9.0c directly, eliminating the question of updating. Visit these links: Link 1| Link2| Link3 Its about time this question should be included in the FAQ/Most common problems.. Savvy
