There are several utilities to recover ur password...some freewares, some
sharewares, etc. Google for wht exactly u want...

No matter what tool u choose, it will require hell lot of time if u have to
recover a password which is long... Longer the password, more is the time
taken to recover it. It took me arnd a week to recover a 12 wrd passwrd.
It also depends on what ver. of winrar u have used to passwrd protect it...
Newer d ver. longer is the time taken..

In case u remember some part of it, time taken wil be reduced drastically

@vyasram
I dont remember d name of the s/w. i had used.. it had too many options &
techniques to crack d passwrd. Bruteforce is fail proof & I used it after d
other methods failed to crack d passwrd...

I think the name was similar to something u have mentioned above but it didnt
have "archive" in its name...

@sai
be careful with google... u mite end up downloading some s.w which in no
way wil crack d passwrd for u bt end up ruining ur sys by installing spywares
and adwares.

I wud suggest u go thru http://www.download.com & look for clean s.w

He used the Brute Force method. In this method, the software tried all the possible combinations of letters and numbers and special characters till it stumbled upon the right password. The more number of characters, the more time it will take to stumble upon the right combination, which in his case was a week.

Like i said in my prev post

Imagine u hav a 20 character password. There a total of 89 characters accepted by winrar. on an average u will get a charater correctly in the 45th attempt. to get all the 20 characters right it takes 45^20 possibilities on an average. Since ur pc has to go through all these possibilities to find the correct password , it takes heck a lot of time
