I would beg to differ here.. I would never install AVG or Quick Heal.. Lowest detection rates of the lot (<80%). Norton on the other hand has 97%+ detection rates. Yeah, Norton is a resource hog, but detection rates are great!

I more vote for AVG, it is low on resources as it is low in detection rates.

Norton has the best heusterics engine and offers the best protection. What's wrong if it uses lot of resources? If you have 512 MB of RAM, it doesn't make any noiceable difference.
And you can always disable it when you are not connected to the internet.

i consider norton bloatware. there are more efficient av around like kav, nod32, avast. light on resources and effective. as far as the best av protection goes, i m inclined to vote for bitdefender, kav, nod32, pclin, mcafee, etc.

^^ Yup.. you are absolutely correct. NOD32 has the best heuristics, followed by BitDefender. Although, id remove pc-cillin and mcafee from your recommended av's list (pc-cillin cuz of low detection rates, mcafee for the same reasons as norton
)

avast n avg are freeware. they have good detection AND removal capabilities. they r also reasonably light on resources. avast has great features though avg offer a simpler/basic gui. both offer realtime protection too. what more can one ask in freeware !?

well why is NOD32 not there in the poll..Well NOD32 is the best in anti-viruses but it does not have a firewall etc which norton has..
Can any one tell me how much memory does norton internet security take..... Like Trend Micro Internet security..........20 MB approx Avast!............................................ ...4MB approx NOD 32..............................................12 MB approx.

without any doubt: McAfee
I'd prefer to steer clear of McAfee. It's a big no for me.
