From XP Setup CD, copy ntldr file (It'll be in i386 folder) and paste to C:\ Drive.

If it doesnt help, then boot using XP Setup CD and give following command in Recovery Console:

fixboot
bootcfg /rebuild

Boot up with the winxp cd, go to the recovery console and type 'fixmbr'. that restores the winxp boot menu.

Once ur winxp boot menu is fixed, ur sys will boot in winxp. I am not sure abt the effect that "fixmbr" will have over linux but I guess u will have to reinstall/modify grub loader to be able to boot in linux.

I formatted my linux partition thru winxp after fixing xp boot menu
