Default Re-Installing XP in HP Pavilion

guys ,
i need help in RE-INSTALLING Windows XP, on My HP Pavilion, WITHOUT FORMATTING or AFFECTING THE "DATA" IN OTHER PARTITION.

i need STEP by STEP PROCEDURE OF formatting the C: drive(only) & re-installing XP.

ITs A HP PAVILION so i have "XP RECOVERY DISK" (2 DVD), so help from "HP owners" will be helpful.

i've never done this before, so PLEASE help.

on the "recovery manual" it says the "full recovery" will take 3-6 hours & it doesn't clearly states that all the PARTITION's will be formatted.

I don't think you can re-install the OS from the "XP RECOVERY DISK" (2 DVD), which came with your PC. I will suggest you to contact the HP Support for a clarification on this first. And also has one of them to come down and do the re-installing for you. (if it is under warranty.) Even if it is not under warranty ask them to come and re-install it for you (they will charge for this).

Unhappy Re: Re-Installing XP in HP Pavilion

well the PC is under warranty,
but the thing is that the Vendor From whom i bought the PC , has very poor service, (i.e., the person they send for checking the PC, dont know much,[ in the beggining, the Multimedia keys on Keyboard were working, two service person came & couldn't rectify the problem, atlast they called HP call centre to rectify the Problem. & the problem was simple, "kbd" file (some software for keyboard), was DISABLED in the "msconfig".].

get intouch with HP support directly and not through the vendor. They will send a qualified person if required. Just register A SUPPORT CALL with HP.
