Default help in changing the default for programs


There was an article in digit to change the default drive for programs and documents and settings from c: to say d:. does any1 remember how to go about doing that? i have it that way on my computer rt now.. it was a registry edit. i don't remember the path. Am in the process of formatting my hard drive.am using win xp. And should i do it after installing SP2 or before plz help me soon......... thank you

Instead of directly messing with the system registry, download Tweak UI from Microsoft.

You can easily change the default paths and drives with this tool.
Install the OS, then the service pack & change the required paths.

am surprised that no one remembers the path to it. anywats i will install the tweak UI. guess thats all i can do. i was trying a way around it!

Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion
