i thnk xvid is better then divx as it compresses more with good QUALITY video ravi...And use low sound bitrate(64 or 80 kbps) if ur video is like a video song..so u can use more bitrate for video.(like abt 600 to 1000 kbps)

try winavi7 it can convert bet all sorts of formats. and compressions. for the size u hav to do the hit and trial and c what suits your need the most.

considering divx and xvid...i think both are same.
some prefer xvid while other swear with divx..both of them are playable in divx dvd players.

to put 2 movies each of 90 mins in a cd, i think divx5.2.1 550kbps bitrate would be enough.
but take it as a fact that any form of video processing that u do would lower the video quality.
if u are not satisfied with the video quality then increase the bitrate

in 1 cd 2 hrs video (vcd quality) in divx5.2.1 bitrate at 630 kbps would give u acceptable video quality(now acceptable is really a relative aspect.)

for converting to real media formats...(i.e. *.rmvb)...vb stands for variable bit rate. u can use easy realmedia tools it consists of a realmedia producer and a editor.
producer converts all sorts of video to real format
while editor can do all the editing of the real media file.

in realmedia producer....ideal setting would be....
use vbr
max bitrate 900
quality 65 percent
normal video mode.
realmedia 10 codec
audio-music mode.
64kbps stereo music realaudio 10
FPS 25

rest of the setting u can figure out on ur own.

adios
