Default Sound driver issues in Laptops while using Linux


well i tried to install Linux distros like Fedora core 3 and Xandros on to my friends laptops "Compaq" "IBM " the error is there regarding that the sound driver is not found how can this problem be resolved as there is no sound output in the laptops.

you need to provide the audio chipset. search for the relavant chipset drivers at sourceforge.net. alternatively you can also try the latest ALSA drivers.
