Default Media player problem

I use WMP to play all my videos. The problem is that it plays all videos at about 70% of its natural brightness.(The other players play those videos correctly).I have reinstalled WMP but the problem persists. Please help as i have to change the brightness while playing each file,it dosen't even store that setting.
Thanks

Make sure you have the Video Overlay settings adjusted in your video driver settings.

Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced > (this part will differ based on your video card).
