Default Data lost..

Hello !

I had Mass Effect (genuine) .
I copied whole dvd on my HD for backup. Now dvd got corrupted.

Last Night, i was installing it , suddenly i saw there was less space in my c: drive so i aborted installation process.
Again clicked setup.exe and got a message saying=>

"Language not specified."

i noticed that "Data" folder is not there.

I searced and result shows Data folder with 0 byte size.

Before i aborted installation Mass Effect folder was about 7.9 GB.
And now it has only 85 MB

why this happened ? And where it lost? Any way to recover.

Please help ! It was one of my favorite game. I'm too disappointed.

Try the DVD again. May with the power of lord, it work again!

Else, stop right away, copying or manipulating contents of the drive on which your data was. And try Recuva recovery Software.

But remember don't download or install it on the drive where your data was. All the best.

Try to copy it again from dvd, but this time use vertual drive softwares likes "Daemon tools" or any other that you preffer and make image file(iso, mdf ect) of you game dvd.

DAEMON Tools Lite :: Products :: DAEMON-Tools.cc

Use the same software to read this image as well. It will work like a virtual(can call it fake) drive. Dont dump the dvd into your hard drive just like that. Thats so old school.-)

Hey i'm not cool , you will also do same if you lost your favorite.

I can't imagin downloading 8 gb on my connection. Only use steam for indie game.
Instead this time i'll make 2 extra dvd backups.

Now i'm going to backup all my games in extra dvd.

When you have aborted the copy process in the first case, the incomplete files might have been deleted and so is your "Data" directory.

You can try copy the setup-files from the dvd again. If the datas are not readable properly in your drive, try are different drive.

Else you can use tool like CD-check to attempt recovery from the DVD disc

This is one reason why I actually like Steam. Digital distribution is good.

Get an account in HDFC or Axis bank and use their Virtual Credit Card service.
