USB Problem... PLS HELP

My compaq Laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate cannot detect USB devices like USB pendrive, USB Mouse and USB external HArd disk.

The problem started when i connected my nokia phone through usb and at the same time disconnected my usb mouse.

then when again i connected my USB mouse it shows device not recognized. the same things happens with my pen drive and external hard disk.

BuT if i keep pendrive and external hard disk connected in laptop and restart windows 7, then both are detected.

what might be the problem..??? pls help...!!!

Try system restore to a time before this issue happened.

jatinec, when you say you can't connect USB devices do you mean you can't see any icons when you attach these devices.

Unistall your USB Controller drivers from device manager and on the next reboot they will be automatically reinstall - this should fix it

it seems that only few of all the usb controllers avlbl on sytem are active
Head to device manger and under THE USB DEVICE controllers check if drivers for controllers are installed and updated and try "detect hardware changes" for ur controllers to see if windows could fix it for you
