Question Ubuntu installation problems

My laptop runs on a 64 bit edition of Windows 7 Ultimate.

Every time I try to install Ubuntu in my laptop (via the Wubi installer), the following error is displayed in the middle of the installation (please see attached image "ubuntu-error.jpg").

Needless to say that the installation fails and Ubuntu does not get installed.

I have tried installing Ubuntu 11.04 (32 & 64 bit), Digit customised Ubuntu 11.04 and Ubuntu 10.04 (32 bit). But all my attempts were in vain.

Please tell me how I will be able to run Ubuntu on my computer. Is the problem arising from the 64 bit edition of Windows?

Why don't you try burning a Live CD and installing it. Wubi is not recommended at all.

don't install through Wubi. It has its own share of problems.
burn a LiveCD as suggested by krishnandu
or
if you have a pen drive, use YUMI or unetbootin

Sorry for my very late response.

Yes, I am aware of the fact that Wubi has its own share of problems. But I want to know why it's not working for my 64bit Windows 7 Ultimate. Previously, it used to work on my desktop computer ( XP Professional 32 bit - SP 2 & 3 ).

Will someone please tell me the reason (and the way to rectify it)?

does it work if you install it in some other partitions?
also, post the log file generated according to the error message.

Okay. I don't know whether this is success or failure. You decide for yourself.

I burnt 2 disks with 32 and 64 bit images of Ubuntu 11.04. But I did not even get the options menu ( Try Live CD, Install to disk, etc ) when I booted using them. All I got were black screens. ( I tried multiple times ).

Then I opened up Windows and discovered that I could install the 'Ubuntu installer' if I installed Wubi in C: drive. ( I don't remember whether I had tried installing Wubi in C: ). So my 2 CDs were wasted.

Anyway, I restarted my laptop and selected Ubuntu from the boot menu. And then.... again... A big black screen!

I tried using the Wubi installers of Ubuntu 11.04 32 & 64 bit versions. I also tried with the ISO file of the Digit customised Ubuntu 11.04. The results were same - static black screens!!

Now I am going to recheck if the Wubi installers are working on my other drives ( other than drive C: ).

Summary: I managed to install Wubi, but failed to boot using Ubuntu!

Nope, it's not working in other partitions.
