Default Firewall enabling.

Hi Guys,

I want some softwares on my computer to be blocked working (updating, etc.,etc)at the time of my Internet connection. So, how to block such softwares from Windows XP Home Edition inbuilt Firewall? Step by Step procedures?

Why don't you use 3rd Party Firewalls?? Zone Alarm and Comodo both are good. Personally I'd recommend Comodo.

I would second Comodo. IMO, its the best.
Btw, if you want to turn off the updating of softwares "elegantly", just find the "setting" to turn the update feature off in each particular software. Every software has one such option. This would be the way to fight the problem from the "inside".
