Hi Friends,

Today I was using my computer with Norton Endpoint Protection Installed and suddenly some thing different happened see the screen shots:

Symantec Endpoint Protection is detecting its own files as VIRUS

Even Microsoft Security Essentials detects it as a VIRUS

REMOVE IT!
Try these:
1 Malware Bytes Antimalware
2 Online Av scan:
HouseCall - Free Online Virus Scan - Trend Micro USA

You are infected badly

^^ thank you for your advice dear,

Actually I am using Windows Server 2008 r2 x64 converted as windows 7. The Antivirus you suggested is not compatible with it.

And there is no VIRUS as such in my computer. It is a known issue with Symantec Endpoint Protection.

How can a Antivirus detect its own files as VIRUS that was interesting to see, so posted it.

Has happened with me before. Avg Free.

The system is deeply infected. The virus tries to tamper the av by trying to make it remove its own files.

@thetechfreak

I understand your point.

But there is a KNOWN ISSUE (BUG) in Symantec Endpoint Protection.

Also hundreds for people are facing this problem.

And it is not easy to remove this BUG because its a SERVER machine. Symantec has released a PATCH for it recently. see this

I am trying to get the PATCH, but it requires some procedures to be followed which I am a bit concerned about.

There are only 2 anti-viruses worthy of an installation:
1. Avast Free Anti-Virus
2. Microsoft Security Essentials

Remove the current AV and use any of the above.
