Default Is my laptop ready for Windows 7?

Before I come to the point-

OS Version: Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Home Basic , Service Pack 2, 32 bit
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T2390 @ 1.86GHz, x64 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 13
Processor Count: 2
RAM: 1405 Mb
Graphics Card: VIA Chrome9 HC IGP Family WDDM , 128 Mb
Hard Drives: C: Total - 20000 MB, Free - 1512 MB; D: Total - 20002 MB, Free - 5481 MB; E: Total - 36303 MB, Free - 2777 MB;
Motherboard: HCL Infosystems Limited, Notebook PC , VT6363A

So that was my laptop's configuration. Now the point is- Currently, I am using Windows Vista Home basic x86 on this machine. Attracted and obsessed with the visuals, I am seriously thinking about custom installing Windows 7. The Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor scanned my system and the reports say that my PC can be stuffed with the Home Premium and Ultimate editions. Knowing that Ultimate is just not the right game for my laptop, I have kept it aside. I have the setup disc for Home Basic edition. Please help me by playing the correct and more detailed role of the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. I have provided my sys configs.

As far as your setup is concerned, Yes windows 7 can be installed in your laptop.
I think, even Ultimate version can be installed on it.

Now, I couldn't understand what's your "query"? Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor have done the job for you, and suggested you the versions which can be installed. Now, what more do you want it to do?

Install WIndows7. install tuneup utilities 2010 & let it recommend some changes to graphics settings. else the VIA graphics & slow dual core proccy may leave a bad taste of win7.

Yeah the Upgrade Advisor even approved my PC for Ultimate. But won't it slow down? As far as TuneUp Utilities is concerned, will it really work out on my PC to make it run at normal rate after I install Windows 7?

Now, you are really just beating the bush. Windows 7 Ultimate runs smoothly on my Pen 4, 1GB Ram, with NO external Graphic Card support. Your's config is way better than this! Doesn't it?

Don't worry Win 7 will work fine on your PC. Just install and enjoy. There is nothing to be worried about. You PC is more than capable of handling win 7.

Thanks to all of you! i got what I wanted. A review on the basis of your personal experiences. And Vineet369, you made it better. I thought that even the Home Basic edition is gonna ruin my computing experience. Thanks to all again!

If it can run Vista, which was damn bloated. For sure it will run any flavor of Win7 which is far more optimized.

Not exactly. At least thats not the case with win 7. And even with many games latest edition is less resource hungry compared to previous one. So its not a thumb rule.

Awesome! The more good reviews the more confidently I will be able to install the OS. Thanks! And I see that Vista consumes more resources than 7.

^^ Yes. In fact, Vista consumes WAY more resources than 7. That's why 7 got such a huge success.
