Have you tried other than CDBurner XP? Chech with other s/w s.

From the error picture, it seems that the disc might have got corrupted. Does this happen with HP writer usually? or it happened with CDBurner XP only?

Try some alternatives like IMGBurn, Daemon Tools Lite, Ultra ISO or Ahead Nero.

If the problem still persists, then there must be problem with disk lens. You will need to clean the disc lens using Disc lens cleaner.

AFAIK Ashampoo Burning Studio FREE really stands out from the rest in terms of freeness. It also supports multisession disks (not in CDBurnerXP). Try it.
Also, refer this thread - http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/...d.php?t=214854 to see if it helps...

Go for CDBurnerXP, I've been using it since Nero went down the hill and the results are quite satisfactory. Try using other softwares as mentioned above and report back.

CDBurnerXP has a multisession option, but not mentioned in the term you expected.

You can try a change of your cable. Though it may seem incorrect seeing yours reads discs (I presume of course), something like this happened with me too and with a cable change it started working fine. Prior to this I thought my drive has gone. I advice using a rewritable disc so as not to lose more disc in experimenting.

I bought HP DVD writer first time hoping that it would be a good investment than LG. And it has paid me once already, when it wasn't even affected after a CD got blast inside! (It was a cracked CD, and I was being a smart a$$).

OP should try simulating first, before trying to burn, and try other burners.
