Re: Bios Updatin
Why you want to update it..? Does the change log mention anything specific.

Re: Bios Updatin
Well, don't update BIOS like that, I mean updating BIOS is not same as updating softwares / drivers.
Flashing BIOS includes risks.
Only flash when you are facing any problem with the mobo.

Re: Bios Updatin
Well bro BIOS is not your regular windows or software. There are risks in updating that and even there could be unrepairable hardware damage. So don't update unless there is a feature added which you want.

Re: Bios Updatin
1. Install 'Asus Update' software from the CD came with the motherboard or download it from the Asus site.
2. Select Update from the main window (See attachment)
[You may backup current BIOS by selecting 'Save Current BIOS' before doing this]
3. It will ask for the .ROM file
4. Proceed as directed. It will check the .ROM file and verify and will then flash the BIOS. It will take some time. And then you need to restart the s/m
Optional :
You may check out the 'option' menu from the drop down menu to make custom Boot time Image before flashing BIOS.
If you are having the latest BIOS version installed, then you dont need to flash the BIOS. You can check Current BIOS details by selecting 'CHECK BIOS INFO' menu.

Re: Bios Updatin
1. There is no risk to update the BIOS.
2. Ideally should be done via the BIOS DOS interface.
3. If done via Windows insure you have a UPS and all applications are off.
4. Read the change log. Only update if the change log mentions something positive for your system/requirements.

Re: Bios Updatin
There's no risk in flashing a BIOS with a new firmware unless it is official and supports your motherboard. Also, update the BIOS only when you find a new added feature in it or when a particular software/hardware isn't working with the current version of the BIOS. Simple/worthless features or some simple fixes aren't worthy of a BIOS update. The same goes for every other product.

There's NO risk: I have flashed BIOS many times and sometimes keeps on hitting the EXE file
And why it's necessary to flash BIOS only when the MOBO has problem?

Re: Bios Updating
Well, thanks for correcting me, I didn't knew flashing the mobo isn't risky.
But I surely think that updating BIOS is not something like updating software, AV, or drivers.
We should not flash mobo now and then, if we are not interested in the features mentioned in changelog. Though there is no hard and fast rule.
