Default Software for TV Tuner

Hi, I have got a old Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150 TV Tuner card without any disc and remote etc. I would like to watch and record TV in my computer. I have a Airtel DTH. Please suggest me a good software to view and record at high resolution. Freeware prefarable but won't mind spending some bucks if its really good.

PS: Will XBMC do the trick?

^^ are you serious?!! its not at all illegal unless you are recording copyright shows and uploading it on the internet. then tata sky+ should be illegal too! you can record anything on TV for personal use.

@OP i used intervideo winDVR for my TV tuner to watch and record stuffs.
