Default Win 7 Installation Problem.. A device Driver is missing

I get this error in the second screen of the installation wizard, after entering language details:-

Missing Cd/DVD device driver ("A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing)

I am not sure what's the problem! And Google doesn't give me a proper solution.
Please help!

There must be something wrong with DVD.

Check it with another PC or try creating a iso out of it

Then properly recconect all the connections to the mobo. The HDD and DVD drive.

Also, if dust has accumalated in your mobo, clean that too

If you are sure that your DVD is not culprit then clean your system and reconnect all the cables. It helped me once and since that day I usually clean up my PC after like 6 moths or so.

Here are a few answers that I think are good
Quote:
I had the very same problem and the
solution is: 1,You have a limited chipset on your
motherboard that can not address/
remap 4GB of ram properly what you
have to do is remove one of the
memory sticks and install windows
using just 2GB. 2,Or if your chipset/bios supports it
enable memory hole remapping in
bios setup. Yes I know its has nothing to do with
a DVD drive but trust me this works if it
was a faulty cable the disc wouldn't
have booted to begin with I was running 4GB of ram on an AMD
480X Chipset this is one of those
limited chipsets
Quote:
After reading many threads in many
places and trying just about
everything I saw (removed HW until
almost nothing left, reduced BIOS
settings to minimal items, good quality
ISO burn, booth from USB, etc.), I was finally able to resolve the problem on
my system and it had nothing to do
with the DVD drive/drivers at all (I had even removed all IDE components), it
was the SATA drivers for the MoBo. On another PC (obviously), I
downloaded the latest Win7 drivers
for my motherboard and put them on the USB stick that I was installing Win7
from (although this should probably
work even if you install from DVD, just
as long as you can get to them when
you Browse from the error dialog).
Once I got the error, I browsed to the files to install, but they still didn't show
up. I unchecked the box for not
displaying incompatible drivers and
then they showed up. I selected the
driver and hit Next and everything
went smoothly after that. What drives me crazy is that the error
message gets you looking for DVD
drivers when it has nothing to do with
that, plus Win7 doesn't even recognize
the correct drivers as being compatible
with the hardware! Anyway, after several days wasted at
least my system is up and running
finally. Hopefully this will help resolve
the problem for others as well and
save them from wasting as much time.
Good luck!

Install XP. Then do an overlay of Win7.

Well this was a typical problem, u know..

Previously I burned the DVD in 16 x speed , and the problem was there.

Today again, I burned the same DVD in 4x SPeed, and I had a smooth Install.

Please don't just reply with unwanted suggestions. He has not installed 4 GB RAM, and you are suggesting him to pull out the extra 2 GB ??

In Your Second suggestion you are blamming MS itself ?! if you don't know Microsoft clearly mentions and provide legacy support with drivers for the recommeded hardwares for its OSes and Windows 7 is no different.

See below its for you :@ thetechfreak

Thumbs up Re: Win 7 Installation Problem.. A device Driver is missing

Strange error since it is reading off the disc, and since it is booting off the DVD.
In your Bios, try turning off the IDE emulation for SATA drives, and try installing again

There is nothing strange in it. The DVD read/write rate does affect the installation since, windows copies files and folders from the DVD to the harddisk during setup process.

The answer to the problem has been found and solved below by him itself:

Yea true, I was a bit confused by this error. Becoz, at first, the DVD was being read till it came to the 2nd step of the install wizard.
And actually, it had nothing to do with the CD/DVD Drivers.
16x to 4x and it did the trick.
