Try safe mode, after doing a Disk Scan, (chkdsk) from recovery console.

^^ Ok, let me rephrase my sentence...
First goto Recovery Console, using XP setup, and run CHKDSK utility on OS drive, and then TRY to goto Safe Mode.
Hope, this time I am clear!

@viv2digit: u have mentioned only abt safe mode not working?Cud u elaborate more on any other problem u r facing other than safe mode?

the safe mode files are manipulated/corrupted by win32 worms/viruses....

use a good antivirus to solve the issue

Dear TDF mates,
OP has been in Hibernation from two weeks, and the last post, was during the creation of this thread.
I think, we have enough recommendations, OP can try.
Hope OP resolves the problem and informs which solution worked.
Thanks.

I wonder why people blame everything on viruses. Of course it is not a virus.
