Question Dual Audio in Video


Hi all,

I have come across this Dual Audio concept in Video.
Anybody know abt it please put some light on it.

Q1.I have a mkv video with dual audio (hindi~english),Can it be available in other file formats such .wmv,mp4,avi etc

Q2.How to build a mkv with dual audio?any apps available for the same?

Yeah.. and I really like the Dual Audio videos, since it gives me a chance to understand some dialogues which I find difficult to, with those funny English accents!

I think, dual audio is supported by few video formats, like mkv.
Not sure about how to create one. But you would need atleast an audio file in other language, and that too in exact synchronicity, so that those can be superimposed.

Will research more about it, and post.

Its just muxing extra streams, no transcoding is involved... very much possible

extract audio streams # using MKVToolnix Gui/MKVCleaver Gui/Vdubmod/etc

*.mp4 => Yamb > add audio streams
*.avi => VDubMod > add audio streams
*.mkv => MKVToolnix > add audio streams

Same way adding subtitles (HI/non-HI/multilang) are also possible (*.mkv/*.mp4 only). *.avi you've to either hardcode it or use ext. subs.

Thanks for the detailed info.. some links would have been beneficial.. although not required
Looks like, adding subtitles would be my most liked features.

Sorry forgot to add, I think its also possible with WMV using 'Windows Media Stream Editor' form M$

You guys really don't use torrents I guess. I have seen Dual Audion in MP4, Avi, mkv many many times.

^^ Rarely encountered other files than mkv that were dual audio!

found a gr8 article on dual audio in avi

Dual or Multi Audio AVI with subtitles (MPEG4 XviD DivX)
