Default problem after formatting pc


my friend had formatted his pc .he had 5 partitions on his hard disk.
All the drives had been formatted other than D.Today all his drives are opening other than D.He scanned the drive.Now whenever he tries to open it the the
Open With dialog box opens.Please help.

Go to My Computer > Right Click > Manage > Disk Management.

Now just select D and format it from there.

I hope it'll be fine.

he is using xp and he does not want to format the drive but open it as it contains some documents.

Try Explore, Looks like virus, not sure.

Right click on start menu and click explore and then on left panel select D.

See if this works.

control panel >folder options >Show system files , hidden files

go to D:\

u will see a file called autorun.inf

Delete that file

Reboot pc


edit

next time dont forget to install Good AV +Firewall and update it weekly

yes he has Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 but he is a fool and put update on manual and not updated for a month.I told him to scan after updating and now it shows 4321 detectedI think that it is because of virus and after all the virus are deleted or disinfected i will then then tell you about it.
