Default Paging File Manual Setting

Hi, I have 3HDD. Out of which 1 is SATA the other two are IDE, my memory - 1GB. I wanted to know if there would be any improvement in performance if i dedicate say about 5GB on my second HDD as page file? Also since my main HDD is SATA and the other two IDE, will there be any problem?

there won't be any performance improvement if you increase the size of page file - a little performance improvement can be visible if you move the page file to the non OS HDD.

It's better to by more ram instead and rams are currently damn cheap

BTW, what mobo+cpu and OS do you have ?

More the better, just doesn't holds true for Paging file. Minimum size of paging file should be 1.5 times the memory, and maximum 3 times. So 1.5 GB to 3 GB is what the range should be. You can set 3 GB paging file on two separate physical HDD's. But it should not be set to two partitions of the same physical drives.

SOURCE and An Interesting Read

Such a huge page file wouldnt help your performance much.
Set it to around 1.5 GB
