Default save my hdd

i a, having a 3.5" inch 1 TB external seagate hdd.( Freeagent) . Yesterday when i was moving data from my pc to hdd using teracopy( came with digit dvd). I first moved 14gb of data . Once this completed i gave command for anothe 26GB of data. Now when this transfer was 70% completed it hanged the system , i waited for a long time then i tried to end the process when everything failed i plugged out the usb cable. To my horror When i reinserted the cable the status no device driver found i tried again this time it said one of your usb port has malfunctioned, in whichever port i try it doesn't show hdd but give this malfunction message.

i am using win7ultimate and with the option for quick removal instead of better performance.

Please tell me what should i do apart from giving it service centre.

PS:_ I don't know the difference between GB and Gb so please undestand the usual meaning.

I believe that it must be a common problem with external desktop hdds. I lost my WD my book essentials 1 tb desktop in the same way. I required it urgently so got the power cord repaired from a local guy (that particular power port head was not available). Try to find the seagate service centre. There's a thread in the forums that lists the contact no.s of many companies.

Connect the power cord to a good UPS from now on.

Hi!

Seagate people are saying me to courier hdd to somewhere in chennai and they say they will replace it . What if i go to Delhi center and tell them to repair it instead of replacing it . Do u think they will agree is it worth wasting a day to go to delhi. I don't want them to replace it it contains about 400 gb data most of which is movies but it contains around 8 gb of my dad's accounts backup!

@mohityadavx: Buddy the same thing happend wid me also.
I had Seagate Freeagent Go 2.5" 250GB HDD....
they replaced or repaired (I dnt knw) my HDD after taking 1month....

If the LED lights are glowing then its not power problem....the
Partition is corrupted....& only a 3rd party company can recover the data.

so many mails were exchanged between me & seagate...& they told me this dat data recovery is not entertained by Seagate & u have to go 2 a 3rd party for dat..
& also after u get the data recovered from 3rd party u have send the 3rd Company Letter head mentioning "No Device is damaged or opened while doing the recovery process...blah..blah...blah..."

pathetic Seagate...

Contact Stellar’s data recovery expert at 1-877-778-6083 or request a quote online.
