Trouble with IView, MPC and loads of other softwares
I recently formatted and reinstalled Xp on my PC and Windows 7 on Laptop. The reason was nothing except that I am having holidays, and had nothing to do in my home.
But, well the trouble starts now. I installed IrfanView 4.27, Media Player Classic 6.60, Opera 10.63 and 11 alpha and some more utilities.
Then I installed some games(like Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows, Max Payne, Delta Force Xtreme and some more) on my PC.
They all ran good and nice for three or four runs(boots of my system) and then, now none of them is working except my Opera 11.
When I try to play games, a DOS window open and closes at the same instant.
Please guide me about what might have gone wrong. Why is the same problem appearing in both my systems?
NOTE: I installed the softwares from different sources on each machine.

Re: Trouble with IView, MPC and loads of other softwares
Delete all partitions, format and install Windows again.
This time do install a good AntiVirus like Avira AntiVir Free.

I did that too, right now, I have nothing on my PC; except Windows 7, Avira AntiVir and an activated internet connection. I formatted my interal 320 GB drive yesterday(or day before; it is 00:00 AM )and installed them fresh. Scanned the system overnight and the AntiVir detected all of my executables on my external 500 GB HardDisk as some virus or threat.
So, now I have no software setup on my external HDD, I am feelin as if I have been robbed in broad daylight. And, again, I am still not able to install anything even now even when I am using older or latest Digit/Chip or any other DVDs I have.

The virus perhaps still managed to crawl through from your external hard disk. Format everything properly again.

Something like Win32._______
and when I double clicked on the quarantined file, it said the program has been quarantined because it was not supported by Windows 7.

Keep Windows as a secondary OS only for games; like most.

It didn't take much for my father to make a switch after he had experienced a similar havoc. He himself asked me for a safer and reliable thing to use.
