Default ATI Drivers Installation

I hope this is the correct sub-forum for my post.If not then mods are welcome to move it to a proper sub-forum,but please do let me know where have you moved it to.
OK,now to problem at hand. After installing Win7 I neither installed my MoBo drivers from the driver CD nor the graphics drivers from the CD provided with my GPU(XFX HD4650).I wanna play RISEN.So do I need to install the drivers from the CD provided along with GPU in order to play games?or should I just directly install the game & start playing?

win7 may have the drivers built in. so if you able play the game, play. if some error shows up, install the latest ATI catalyst drivers. or the 10.4 (many complained new drivers decrease performance)

I think you should always install drivers for discrete gpu if it's available - windows drivers on the DVD are not the best and updated drivers - so Installing new drivers is always recommended for improved performance.

The drivers that come installed with Win7 are generic drivers. They are just there to get the system to go. You should pick up the latest driver for your GPU, IF, it is stable then continue. Else you can ask us, and we can recommend a better flavor.

Also helps to install the latest version of DirectX for your Operating System.

^^ its the version of driver. mine says Version: 8.782.0.0.

8.782.0.0 → Driver Package Version
10.10 → Catalyst Version

the directX package you downloaded updates the directX files of your PC (think it as a M$ update).

OP:
Sorry, you should update to Dx11. No harm in updating the libraries for Dx9. You are on Win7 right.

Link for Dx11 update.

Also what you highlighted, as said by Sam, is your ATI driver version.

as far as I know there's no downloadable DX11 for win7 - win 7 comes with DX11.

MS only released DX11 update for Win Vista SP2.

What we now get is the generic DirectX Runtime Updater which updates files related to DirectX bsed on the supported OS.
