Default Photoshop help

Hi all,
My friend is a make up artist and plans to start her website soon.A lot of work she does is displayed on lots of websites. Now she asked me to remove some watermarks for her.I know it is illegal but most of the women who write for these fashion magazines are her friends so it is really ok.

I have just started fiddling around with photoshop a couple of days and usually use the rectangular marquee tool>>select watermark>>right click>>fill and then some tweaking with the clone tool.
But some of the images appear really ugly.
Uploading 2 files to give an example.Kindly suggest what other tools I can use.

Input

output

I know the work looks cocky.Hoping for some hints. Also images with a lighter background make these edits look worse.Any way out ?

Thanks in advance
