MS Excel worksheet columns not SORTING-PROBLEM MERGED CELLS

Hello, I could not sort my MS excel worksheet due to the following error. Can any body help how to solve this problem of merged cells.

When I am trying to sort MS Excel sheet, this message 1 is coming.
And when I checked HELP, the folloiwng messages 2 and 3 appeared
1. "This operation requires the merged cells to be identically sized."

2."This error only appear if you attempted to sort a range of previously merged cells, but not all cells in the sort range were merged or are not of the same size.

3. To avoid this behavior, unmerge all the merged cells in teh range, or merge all the cells in the range to be the same as the largest merged cell grouping.

Obviously, you must be having some merged cells in between which is creating problem.

I think you have something like this.
-- COL A | COL B -
-- 1 cell -|- 1 cell --
-- 1 cell -|- 1 cell --
-- 2 merged cells --
-- 1 cell -|- 1 cell --
-- 1 cell -|- 1 cell --
-- 2 merged cells --
-- 1 cell -|- 1 cell --
-- 1 cell -|- 1 cell --

And you are trying to sort one of the columns. This can't work. You need to unmerge them if possible to sort them.
