Two ways of doing this.

1. Pay and get the best - Adobe Acrobat Writer. Nothing can beat it.
2. Save some money and get a freeware like OpenOffice.org. You can export any file as .pdf file

There are other freewares available too.

A bit more complicated way
Google for cutepdf printer.Along with it u get something called GhostWriter.

Download both of them.
Install cutepdf first.
Install ghostwriter.

Now this will act as ur virtual printer.
U can configure settings like u do for normal printer

hey
I know that one; you just require Adobe Acrobat; it has integerated Distiller in it which is used to convert to .pdf. Plus Acrobat has import facility from Word format too. You can also put your security lock defining abilities for your Pdf files.
This is my first answer to somebodies query ; I hope I am correct I had the same problem and I had asked the question. But I found this solution from my classmate. Plus Acrobat is easy not confusing like other options like 995 one plus all facilties in one.
Bye

Default The best free way

There are three steps for doing this

1. Download and install ghost script(e.g Alladin, find it in Google)

2. Install a post script printer (any company any model which has the last word ps, you donot have to have a physical printer e.g go to add printer,
select the company HP, select any model with ps e.g HP laserjet PS
)

3. Download the program called word to PDF by searching google, its free.

Install the above three and u r done.
