Having problem accessing the web with Avast! 5

I have recently installed Avast! 5 free edition.My problem is that whenever web and network shields of avast is activated i am not able to access any websites though i can download via fdm properly.when i switch off the shields i can properly access the internet.

install the latest one. also go into settings & check. but i feel the problem is not with avast but something else. maybe your system infected by virus or you have some parts of a earlier antivirus (or firewall) so that when both are on (avast + parts of former, it conflict). install Your Uninstaller & check if some old programs partially removed. & than do a scan with Emsisoft AntiMalware & get rid of them, if any. than report here of any improvement.
