pen drive problem in Windows XP

hello frnds, frm 2-3 days i am getting a strange problem in my Windows XP with Service Pack 3 installation. whenever i insert a pen drive in USB port

, then windows hangs. but the same drive on same port runs fine in Fedora 13

. can u pls tell me any solution. i hv checked but didn't find any malware

Check again probably with a different Anitivirus software. If any malware is not fond, probably your pen drive has been formatted in some other format which Linux recognizes. Try to format the drive in FAT or FAT32 filesystem.

windows trying access the pendrive. but the software it uses maybe corrupted. so it gets hanged. this is just a probable reason.

earlier also when i was using win xp i sometimes got this error, but i go for a reinstall, but now situation is different i cant reinstall windows. also this problem is not only associated with one pen drive, every pen drive which i insert has this problem.

If I am not wrong, you might be using Quick Heal Antivirus. Disable it & see how the problem disappears magically.
