It's pretty easy. You need a firefox extension to provide you the direct link to the video and a download manager. I use
Free Download Manager as the download manager and
1-Click YouTube Video Downloader to get the direct link. (There are also some other similar extensions available
here).
After you install these two things, go to the youtube video page and click on the direct link generated by the extension. See the image below:
Clicking on one of the above links will start the download. Stop the download, right click on the download and Copy download link.
Now go to Free Download Manager (or any download manager of your choice) and add a download by URL.
The download should begin with resume support now.

I am sorry? He never said anything what he is trying to download and that content might very well be available legally on bittorrent. Bittorrent is not piracy in itself. There is a lot of legal stuff shared through torrents which saves the hosters a lot of bandwidth. It's funny how downloading something through youtube is all right, but the same stuff through torrents becomes piracy.
