Default XP 64Bit or Windows7 64Bit ?


Hello al digitians.

im animation student.. works mainly on 3DSMAX and AfterFX.. wants to migrate from 32Bit OS to 64Bit for better use of Ram n processor..

bt m confused which OS to install ( XP 64Bit or Windows7 64Bit)
as it takes hell lot of tym to render in 32Bit:CiobarTongue:


My config is
AMD Phenom II 955 BE (3.2Ghz)
Asus M4A78 Series mothrbord
2X2 Gb DDR3 Ram (1333 Mhz)
1 GB HD4870 (MSI graphic card)
600 W Cooler Master SMPS

Win7 64BIT is good. Just make sure your 3D rendering software are compatible. By the way which PSU you have of the CM series..?

PSu - Cooler Master (Extreme power supply) 600W

yeah software is compatible..no issue on that...

actually windowsXP 64bit using 250MB PF usage where as Windows7 64Bit is using 1.12Gb

i don't want visual performance i just want my computer to perform better while workin on 3dsmax or After FX

You PF should be always set to 1.5xphysical memory. Does not matter how much the OS uses. Win7 is more optimized, so you should get better performance.

Why are you spending your valueable time for even thinking?? Go for Win 7.

It cannot deliver constant / spike free power, specially if power hungry GPUs are being utilized, like in this case a HD4870.

Asigh is right, CM PSUs have a knack for going down at heavy loads. Go for Corsair etc.

I dont have any graphics card atm. Then i guess its ok. Right?
