Default how to disable win xp firewall , for good !


hey
neone knows how to permanently disable the win xp firewall. i have gone through the recommendations and checked on the box that i have a firewall installed and will manage myself but of no good.
i went through the security centre and unchecked on "" check for firewall" but on bext bootup i still get that bloody ballon.

ne one knows how to ?? :roll: :roll:

u mean u wanna disable security centre not windows firewall right ?
i mean the security centre baloon ?
well just let the darned thing monitor ur firewall and keep the windows firewall off

I dont think he meant the security centre. I face the same problem. Cant seem to disable the firewall in xp sp2. Even after turning it off, i keep getting dialogs asking whether to allow net access to particular programs. :roll:

Click [Start]->[Run] and type 'services.msc'. There, disable th service called 'Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)'.

also since security centre in a service it can be set to manual so it starts only when required. better option for newbies rather than going for reg edit.
